Our cherished Aleya~Chayley died 6 hours after having a botched (elective) c-section performed. We were
new to breeding, actually sooner than planned as we did not intend for Mavryck to breed Aleya at this heat
cycle. Her pregnancy went well – she was happy, healthy and had apparently “read the book”. In our “heart
of heart’s”, we know she could have naturally whelped this litter and would have been able to raise her litter.
Sadly, she was robbed of this experience. In hindsight, we know we were coerced into following vet’s advice
for consenting to an elective c-section for Aleya by a vet who played on the special bond of a family with their
cherished family companion. Four precious puppies were whelped, within 2 hours we were leaving the vet
clinic with Aleya and her litter and 6 hours later, Aleya~Chayley hemorrhaged to death in my arms after
purging a huge gush of blood from her mouth.

Her spirit prompted me to carry on for the sake of her litter. Within 24 hours one of the puppies joined Aleya
in Paradise, “Rainbow Bridge”. This was Aleya’s first litter and she was so, so excited and happy. We know
she would have been such a superb momma to her babies and with one joining her she could fulfill that wish.

Our gratitude is extended to Niki & Fred Fuhr, D’Vine Papillons, for generously sending their Japanese Chin
bitch who had just finished weaning a litter of her own, Meredith; to be our litter’s surrogate “Angel of Mercy”.
She was shipped all the way from Kansas for this special mission. Upon her arrival, and my seeking Aleya’s
blessings on this arrangement, she and I, along with my sister; Missie, joined forces and brought the
remaining 3 puppies through. Aleya’s spirit was finally at peace.

While Meredith’s milk supply was not sufficient, her mothering skills were wonderful.

These beautiful babies of Aleya’s are all loving life today.
We are grateful to each of the extended Karyzma Families which have brought these special butterflies into
their hearts and home and clearly love them so.

Aleya’s Legacy Lives On… As does her sweet spirit

Moral: Breeding is not for the faint of heart.
